Comztek donates R69 500 to charity

Johannesburg, 7 March 2007 – Technology distributor Comztek has donated R69 500 to charity during their annual charity proceeds handover, at the company’s head offices in Midrand.

Each year, Comztek participates in a Christmas campaign where their employees and associates are invited to donate funds to three identified charities.

“As a corporate citizen in Johannesburg, Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal, Comztek is committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need in the surrounding communities.  I wish to thank Comztek’s staff and resellers for their participation in the campaign,” says Andries Coetzee, financial director of Comztek.

The drive raised R20 500 for Cheshire Home, Queensburgh, a special home for the disabled people in KwaZulu-Natal.

An additional R23 000 was given to The Cape Town Society for the Blind.  This non-profit community-based organisation aims to provide blind and visually impaired adults, in the Greater Cape Town and Boland areas, with opportunities to become independent and financially self-sufficient citizens.

The Johannesburg Association for the Aged (JAFTA) received a R26 000 donation.  JAFTA, founded in 1954, is a non-profit village for the elderly in Johannesburg South.

In addition, Comztek will be donating 10 computers incorporating Microsoft and Adobe software to the Steve Tshwete Secondary School in Olievenhoutbosch.  Despite difficult and poor conditions, this school has managed to achieve excellent matric pass rates, over 90%.

“While this donation does not ask much from Comztek, I’m sure it will go a long way to help this school bridge the digital divide,” Coetzee concludes.
